The BMW S1000RR is officially considered the world’s fastest motorcycle in its category. Last month during the Cook Top of the World Shootout, BMW motorcycle rider Erin Sills set a new record establishing the S1000RR as the top dog.
Sills reached 229.266 mph while riding in Uyuni, Bolivia. The motorcycle speed record previously for a 1,000cc naturally aspirated four-cylinder partially streamlined motorcycle that was held by Sills’ late husband, Andy.
According to Hunter Sills Racing, the team faced many obstacles leading up to this new record.
“Shipping containers carrying critical equipment from the U.S. to Uyuni, Bolivia were significantly delayed, causing the race event to be truncated from the original six days to only two and a half. The first day of testing for HSR was promising, only to be followed by a major electronic failure impacting the nitrous system and a blown motor on day two of the event,” Hunter Sills Racing said in a statement.
The BMW S1000RR is available in a variety of colors. It is packed with excellent performance features, including a liquid-cooled four-stroke, inline four-cylinder engine that delivers up to 199 horsepower and 83 lb.-ft. of torque.
This BMW S1000RR features has Rain, Sport and Race modes for optimal traction. DTC Dynamic Traction Control and ABS ensure enhanced safety. A high-quality, high resolution instrument panel features important motorcycle information like speed and settings.
